【明報專訊】It is said that breakfast provides energy for the rest of the day and is therefore the most important meal. However, according to a report, Hong Kong kindergarteners and primary students on average have got fourteen minutes to finish their breakfast. Some children do not have breakfast because they do not like their fare.
In the study carried out by the University of Hong Kong (HKU), over 500 parents of children between three and twelve were interviewed. It shows about half of the interviewed parents tend to give their children bread with jam and butter for breakfast. Specialists suggest most jams available are low in fruit and high in sugar, while butter is high in both fat and sodium.
Nutritionists say breakfast rich in protein and vitamins is healthier.
