Soup with celery and nori – a diuretic to treat bloating

30 July 2012
Nori is a diuretic to treat bloating while celery contains a lot of fibre: both are beneficial for weight loss. The addition of sweet carrot turns this tonic into a delicious anti-bloating soup.

Ingredients:

1 piece of nori,

4 liang celery,

1 carrot peeled,

1 jin pork ribs,

1 slice ginger,

12 bowls water, and

a pinch of salt.

Preparation:

1. Slice the carrot; cut the celeries into segments; slightly rinse the nori to remove sand and drain.

2. Bring a pot of water to a boil; put in the ginger and slightly scald the pork ribs to get rid of blood stains and drain.

3. Bring another pot of water to a boil and put in the carrot and pork ribs. Bring back to boil over high heat for 10 minutes and then turn down the heat to cook for 2 hours.

4. Lastly, add the nori and celeries and bring back to boil over high heat and then turn down the heat to cook for another 30 minutes. Add salt to taste and serve.

Tips:

If you like pungent flavour, add pepper powder while serving.
